We will mail library materials to any resident of Adams County who is temporarily or permanently handicapped, elderly or ill and is unable to visit a library.

You may borrow regular or large print books, audiobooks on cd, or dvds. We will mail them to your residence, and include a new request form so that you may list titles or authors to be sent in the next shipment.

There is no cost for you to use Library by Mail.

Postage for delivery and pick up is prepaid, and the mailing label can be turned over and used as a postage-paid return label.

To register for Library by Mail, fill out the registration form and return it to the Adams County Library System.

To qualify, you must have a current Adams County Library card. If you need a library card, you can apply for a card online as well.

How It Works

The library will send you three to four items at a time.  When you return those items, new items will be sent. The loan period is three weeks. Overdue fines are not charged on Library by Mail items.

By Mail items

You have several ways to select your materials.

  • Ask that the library staff choose your items for you using the interest categories you chose when registering.
  • Fill out the Library by Mail request form included in each shipment of items. List either titles or authors of items you would like.
  • Place holds on items via the online catalog.
