Keeping our libraries welcoming and accessible means more than offering great books and engaging programs—it also means ensuring our buildings are safe, clean, and functional for everyone who walks through our doors.

When unexpected costs like HVAC breakdowns occur, they place a strain on our already tight operational resources. The Gettysburg Branch, for example, is currently facing a multi-week air conditioning outage on the third floor. Repairs are already underway, but situations like these highlight a broader challenge: the ongoing upkeep of our facilities.

That’s why we’re working hard to plan ahead and protect the spaces our community depends on.

One way we do this is through the Facility Maintenance Endowment, one of seven endowments that support the long-term strength of the Adams County Library System. This particular fund helps cover essential needs like roof repairs, HVAC service, and regular building upkeep—so we can continue offering safe, welcoming environments for all who visit, attend programs, or simply find a quiet place to read and learn.

If you believe in building a lasting impact for both patrons and staff, we invite you to consider a contribution to this fund or any of our other library endowments online at https://www.adamslibrary.org/endowments.
