Program Description

Description

Hiking season is ramping up! Join us for a fascinating presentation from Ed Riggs via Zoom on his experiences when he journeyed from Georgia to Maine, completing the Appalachian Trail.

The impact of persistence and attitude in one’s life is explored through the experiences of one man’s journey along the entire Appalachian Trail. The constant challenges of life on the trail may be mirrored in life, and the lessons of overcoming obstacles are universal no matter the setting. Discover how trepidation and difficult situations can be overcome with a positive attitude, resourcefulness, and a peaceful faith that things will work out.

Edward Riggs is a long-time resident of Gettysburg. He is a retired educator, having taught and coached at Gettysburg College and in the Gettysburg Area School District. Ed is a lover of the arts, and the outdoors. Ed spends many hours in Pine Grove Furnace working at the Appalachian Trail Museum. Ed has hiked all over the country, including parts of the Pacific Crest Trail in California, the Colorado Rockies, the Canadian Rockies and the Cascades in Washington and Oregon. In 2014, Ed completed the 2,190 mile Appalachian Trail, and the trail has become his passion.

The Zoom link will be sent to your email the day of the event. Please check your spam if you do not see it.
