Lincoln Into Art: A Brush with 1860
Thursday, Feb 5
6:00-7:00 PM
Wendy Allen will discuss how an oil portrait on canvas was created in 1860 and how she created a portrait of Abraham Lincoln in the same style, using the techniques and materials of this period in American history. Her research and discovery was done by examining the work of George Peter Alexander Healy. Allen used this information to recreate a new portrait of Abraham Lincoln. In a multimedia presentation, this portrait of Lincoln will unfold on the canvas. She will also weave together stories about the profound and impactful history of 1860, President Lincoln, and George Peter Alexander Healy.
