Gardening: Winter Sowing
Thursday, January 25
6PM

Do you dream of lush and beautiful gardens, but recoil at the price of perennials at nurseries in the spring?

Would you like to try your hand at starting plants from seed, but lack the space and resources to set up a dedicated grow room in your home?

Would you like to maximize the fiscal investment you make in gardening?

Then Winter Sowing is for you! Winter Sowing is a method that harnesses the power of Mother Nature to start strong and hardy seedlings. You only need seeds and potting soil - you can even use recycled containers! While it is ideal for perennials which require cold stratification to germinate, you can winter sow annuals, herbs, and vegetables as well. The presenter happened upon a reference to Winter Sowing in a gardening blog a year ago. Come learn about the method, hear about her successes - and failures - and how you can get started with Winter Sowing now for beautiful seedlings come spring! Participants will start their first Winter Sown seeds in the class to take home.

Registration Required.
