Library Assistant - On Call Substitute

The Adams County Library System has the following on-call substitute position open and available for applications. As this is an on-call
as-needed position, a minimum number of hours is not guaranteed. Successful applicants will need to have flexibility in their schedules, be able to work independently and eventually alone. Applicants must have their own transportation as this job will include travel to all six branches of the library system to fill in.
This is a front-line customer service position. Ability to learn and assist customers in traditional library service as well as modern technology-based library service is essential. Sound independent judgment is required. Availability of hours to work will depend on library needs.
The Assistant Executive Director will work with on-call substitute staff on getting them a monthly schedule of confirmed dates that are agreed to ahead of time, but spontaneous openings will happen and be available as the month goes along. Training at time of hire will be on a consistent basis until the candidate is competent in working independently.
The Successful candidate(s) must have computer/technology skills to adequately utilize library circulation software, Microsoft Office applications, Google Drive & Docs and electronic informational resources.
Physical Requirements: Position requires ability to carry/lift bags of library materials up to 40 pounds and manipulation loaded book carts weighing up to 300 pounds over carpeted floors.
Educational Requirements: High School diploma or GED required, college graduate preferred, library experience preferred.
Starting pay is $14.00/hour with no benefits.
Applicant must be able to obtain, Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Record Check, FBI Criminal Background Check with Fingerprinting, and Mandated Reporter Training completion certificate.
