Access to knowledge is in your hands when you use the POWER library.  Just by using your library card, you have access to online resources for a variety of topics.  Learning is just a click away when you use this free resource. Kids POWER Library offers databases and online resources for children of all ages.  The best way to start is by going to the Adams County Library website. From there hover to “E-Library” and click on “digital resources”.  Once you find “Power Kids” your learning journey begins.
Because I am new to the area I started my journey on POWER library for kids by learning more about Pennsylvania by looking at the Discover Pennsylvania page. Did you know that the Pennsylvania state insect is the Pennsylvania Firefly? If you want to learn anything about the state we call home it is all waiting for you with your library card.
There are lots of other resources available too that can help you learn something new.  BookFlix pairs classic video storybooks from Weston Woods with related nonfiction eBooks from Scholastic to help build a love of reading and learning.
TrueFLIX provides eBooks that are enhanced with related content in a variety of media including primary sources, fiction, videos, audio clips, images, and related websites.  All you have to do is click on a topic you would like to learn about and you can then click through the book to read more about the topic. This is a user-friendly way to look at books when you can’t get to the library.
Gale in context elementary has all kinds of information on topics ranging from animals to social studies, and health. This resource also has news articles, videos, and pictures. Add information to your research project or spend your afternoon getting lost in the vast information.
Have a question but can’t get to the library? Try the POWER Library’s Chat with a Librarian feature and ask a librarian your question.  You can contact them by chat, text, or email.
Now that you will be spending more time online looking at digital resources it is important that you are being safe online.  POWER Library for kids has just the resource for that. CyberSmarts is all about being safe online. These are e-books that teach you how to protect your privacy, and how to safely play games and use social media while online.
So the next time you have a book report or just want to impress your friends with a fun fact be sure to check out Kids POWER library.
