It’s bittersweet to share that my husband, Aaron, and I are moving to California. Aaron has accepted a call to serve as the pastor of Hope Lutheran Church in Atascadero, located in San Luis Obispo County. This will place us closer to family members in the west, as well as return us to the state where we met over 20 years ago. We will begin our trek across the country on Saturday, July 10.  I will forever remember my time serving as the Development Director at the Adams County Library System!
What a privilege to launch a development program and to work with wonderful donors, sponsors, colleagues, board members, Friends of the ACLS, Friends of the Littlestown Library, Friends of the New Oxford Library, Friends of the Trone Memorial Library, and the Harbaugh~Thomas Foundation! Serving on the boards of Healthy Adams County, Interfaith Center for Peace & Justice, and the Association for Fundraising Professionals Central Pennsylvania Chapter has been an honor. I’m forever grateful to the Cline Family Foundations, Adams County Community Foundation, Robert C. Hoffman Charitable Endowment Trust and commissioners of Adams County for their generous support and genuine care for county residents. Although space is limited and I cannot list every sponsor here, I must express my appreciation for ACNB Bank, Adams Electric Cooperative, Inc., Crouse Electric Co., LLC, FourCorners Comics & Games, Gettysburg Eagles Aerie #1562, Gettysburg Kiwanis Club, and Reynolds AV, LLC and Sharon Trew Cline Magraw. Thank you!
Thank you, Adams County, for supporting countless campaigns including “Raise the Roof” for the Gettysburg Library, Small Change, Big Impact: E-Resource Match, Be a Dear, ACCF Giving Spree, Library Giving Day, Wish Board, Goodbye 2020; Hello, $20.21!, #givingtuesday, and one of my favorites (although not quite as glamorous): “Potties for the People.” Your generosity, even through a pandemic, has allowed the 6 branches of the ACLS to remain open and grow our eBook and eAudiobook collection, and creatively pivot during a time of uncertainty to connect people to resources that enrich their lives. Thank you!
I look forward to hearing the tales of FunFest for years to come (don’t forget to save the date of June 10, 2022 for FunFest #5!) and to learning which New York Times Bestselling Author next visits Adams County (after Alafair Burke visits on September 16, 2022, that is!). Thank you for your brilliance and kindness, fabulous Signature Event Committee members Becky Blahus, Karen Burns, Heidi Gillis, Sharon Graff and Pat Thorsen.
Lastly, thank you, dear reader, for supporting my efforts over the last nearly 6 years. It’s truly one of the most rewarding jobs I have held. I will greatly miss you!

Until we meet again,
All Good Wishes,
Dawn Smith
