$5,000 Match Incentive a Success
You may know how expensive it is for a library to purchase eBooks and eAudiobooks: on average, eAudiobooks are $65 each and eBooks range from $10 - $65. Since COVID-19 surfaced, demand for eMaterials has skyrocketed. Our Digital Library is open 24/7 and people have been able to access resources even during the pandemic. The tricky part is that we didn’t have extra funds on hand to purchase additional eMaterials to meet the additional demand. Earlier this month, a generous library supporter pledged to give the ACLS $5,000 for eMaterials if we could raise $5,000. The Friends of the New Oxford Library donated to the Big Impact, Big Change Match Campaign and issued a “Double Dog Dare” to the Friends of the ACLS and Littlestown Libraries to contribute. Together with individual donors, they met the challenge. Thank you! (You can join these amazing Friends groups. Learn more by contacting me or going to our website at www.adamslibrary.org. Please consider voting for them on your Pick of the Counties 2020 ballot for Volunteer Organizations.) We are also extremely grateful to the Adams County Community Foundation COVID-19 Relief & Recovery Fund for awarding $6,300 for Digital Library resources. They are the reason we have been able to continue to offer new titles to enjoy!

Here’s to 2021
We’ve missed seeing you! We are now open for appointments to browse, fax, copy, print and use our computers. But we did have to reschedule some of our favorite events. FunFest will occur on Friday June 11, 2021, so save the date for family fun at the Gettysburg Rec Park. New York Times Bestselling Author, Alafair Burke, was happy to reschedule her visit to Gettysburg to Friday September 17, 2021. I hope you can also join us for the Friends of the ACLS Library Annual Book Sale on July 28 – 31, 2021.

Express Your Gratitude with an Honor Book
Looking for a way to show appreciation to a loved one? We accept donations of $35 per book to expand our collection. An Honor Book donation provides a lasting tribute for friends, family, teachers, co-workers, and even those purrrfect pets in your life. Our staff will take into consideration the subject and preferred genre and provide a “name plate” in each book. We can take your Honor Book Request in person at any of our six convenient branch locations or you can make the request online at www.adamslibrary.org. It’s a great way to say, “I love you,” and contribute to the lifelong learning of residents throughout Adams County.

Not Able to Go to a Branch at This Time?
We’ll mail library materials to any resident of Adams County who is temporarily or permanently handicapped, elderly, or ill and is unable to visit a library. You may borrow books, audiobooks on cd, or DVDs. There is no cost for you to use Library by Mail. Sign up at adamslibrary.org or simply call us at 717.334.5716.
