Friends Provide Opportunity for Local Giving

Why not give locally to the Adams County Friends of the Library so that your giving helps sustain what your local libraries can offer you?

The Adams County Library System currently provides programs to engage children, teens, families and adults. Check out the library website, under events, and view the events calendar and see the variety and amount of programing offered. The library also offers books and interlibrary loans, history and genealogical research, Internet access, resources for the community and individual, digital magazines, eBooks, audiobooks and music streaming.

You can give through a membership in the Friends, starting at $20.00 and increasing levels up to $250 for a lifetime membership. You can find an easy to complete application at the Friends bookstore in the Gettysburg Library.

We also have other planned 2019 fundraising events that you can support to help raise donations for our library system.

We have a special event planned for April 28th, called “Sundaes on Sunday”. It’s a wonderful opportunity for anyone in our community to attend, enjoy beverages, desserts, and make your own sundaes, and listen to author Karen Rose Smith our featured speaker. Karen has authored more than 100 books, including romance novels and two series, “Daisy Tea Garden Mysteries and “DeLuca Home Stager series” You will also have a chance to bid on literary items at a silent auction and pick up a few books to take home with you. The event will be at the Refectory at the Lutheran Seminary from 2PM – 4PM, and the cost is $30 per person. Contact Carolyn Greaney at 717-339-8200 if you have questions or want to register for this event.

On May 18th, 2019 and September 28th, please join us (weather permitting) at the front steps of the Gettysburg Library for the Gettysburg Outdoor Antique Show. We will be offering old out of print and collectible books, record albums, and sheet music for a donation to the library. We will have hundreds of books so don’t miss this opportunity to pick up a collectible book while helping the Friends raise donations for our Library System.

From July 31st – August 3rd, join us at the annual Friends Summer book sale to be held at Redding Auction House, 1085 Table Tock Road, in Gettysburg. We will be offering 25,000 books to the public at great prices.

Finally, you can visit our Friends bookstore at the Gettysburg Library where we offer a great selection of gently used books at a fraction of the cost that you would pay at commercial bookstores. We feature children’s, teens, fiction, non-fiction, history, biography, arts & crafts, cooking, etc. All monies raised through purchases go directly to the library system.

Our libraries deserve our support, so we hope you will donate to the Friends generously in 2019.
