Adult Summer Quest

“Imagine Your Story” this summer at the Adams County Library System. Participants are encouraged to complete five (5) books between May 30 and August 9. This enters your name in the drawing for a chance to win the wonderful bag of bookish goodies! (Drawing will be held at the conclusion of Summer Quest). Don't stop there! Challenge yourself to read up to twenty (20) books this summer and collect all of the badges! Those that obtain all badges will be entered with a second chance to win the grand prize.

The grand prize includes:
One (1) bag filled with books, including a collection of George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones series
One (1) pass for a Cupola Tour at the Seminary Ridge Museum
One (1) nameplate in a September 2020 published book, from a list provided by ACLS staff
Books selected for this challenge can be either non-fiction or fiction titles of your choice. (This includes Adult, Teen, Audiobooks, and e-downloadable.)
Adult Summer Writing Contest 2020
“Imagine Your Story” this summer by entering the Adams County Library System’s Adult Writing Contest! Use this year’s themes of fairy tales, mythology and fantasy to write your own story. It could be science fiction or historical fiction or a modern day fairy tale - the choice is yours!
All submissions must meet the following requirements:
All submissions must be a maximum of ten (10) pages, double spaced, using eleven (11) or twelve (12) point Arial or Times New Roman font
One (1) cover page that includes the title and name of writer, along with the writer’s library branch most used
Submissions must be either a Microsoft Word document or a linked Google Docs
Submissions cannot include pictures or photographs
Submissions cannot include gratuitous language or subject matter; i.e., profanity, sexual content, or any other objectionable content.
The work must be the writer’s original work
The Adams County Library System reserves the right to disqualify any submissions for not following any of the above requirements
Submissions will be accepted Monday, June 15 through Sunday, August 2. Submissions may be sent to Jessica, Public Services Librarian, at jessicaL@adamslibrary.org.
There will be two (2) rounds of judging. The first round of judging will take place the first week of August; Adams County Library staff will read submissions and select the top five (5) stories to move to the second round. The second round judging will be open to the Adams County community to vote; selections for judging will be posted on the ACLS website.
