Exercise your brain

Happy New Year from the Carroll Valley Library!  I’m sure you’ve all heard the saying “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks.”  Well, this is not really true.  Old dogs, and older people, can both learn new things.  Keeping your mind stimulated is a great way to keep your brain healthy as you age.  Make it one of your new year’s resolutions this year to learn something new.
The Adams County Library System is a great place to start!  We have a sizable collection of non-fiction books that will help you exercise your brain.  Origami, cooking, gardening, drawing, woodworking, photography, and even guitar lessons are some of the subjects you can learn about when you visit us!  Browse our collection at your local library branch or online at www.adamslibrary.org.  Your brain will thank you!
Preschool story time at the Carroll Valley Library will continue through the winter on Tuesday mornings at 10:00am.  Join us for stories, songs, and crafts with Miss Crystal.  Bring your toddler and enjoy a morning at the library!
Don’t miss baby storytime on Wednesday mornings at 10:00am.  Babies and their parent or caregiver will sing songs, do fingerplays, read books, and have playtime.  It’s a great way to introduce your little one to the library!
Danny the therapy dog visits the Carroll Valley Library the first Monday of every month at 6:30pm.  Reading to a therapy dog helps to build confidence in new or reluctant readers.  So, bring your child to the library to read to Danny.  He is an excellent listener!
If you are interested in essential oils, sign up for our class on the second Monday of every month at 6:45pm.  January’s topic is new year, new you and February’s class will cover sleep, stress and emotions.  Please call 717-642-6009 to reserve your spot.
The Adams County Library at Carroll Valley is located at 5685 Fairfield Road.  Our phone number is 717-642-6009.  Hours of operation are:  Monday and Thursday 2:00pm – 8:00pm; Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday 11:00am – 5:00pm; and Saturday 10:00am – 4:00pm.  Hope to see you soon!
