So Long, Summer!

It has been a wild summer at our little library. Staff at New Oxford Area Library were thrilled by the turnout for Summer Quest! This year’s summer learning program ends August 12. The school-year is now upon us, and I want to assure the community that our program offerings are not ending. We host four weekly storytimes - Babies & Books, Toddler Time, Preschool Party, and Family Fun. We will also continue to offer programming for all ages. More information and registration for events can be found at adamslibrary.org. Did you know? Our website allows users to limit the events displayed by preferred library location! That being said, all are welcome to attend the events at any Adams County Library, no matter where you live!

We will be hosting programs for adults on the first and third Wednesdays of the month at 11:30 am. The August 15th event will be a "thank you" card-writing workshop. Stop by New Oxford Area Library to write a thank-you to a person, organization, or community group. We can all certainly use a bit of appreciation or encouragement!

Many of our neighbors love to read but do not care for the usual structured book discussion. If this sounds like you, I have great news for you! Beginning August 27, we will have a discussion group meeting every fourth Monday at 6:30 pm that is not a book club. “Not a Book Club” will allow participants to discuss books they are enjoying (or not). Participants might leave with new ideas about books they might be interested to try next!

CVSD will be closed for Labor Day on Friday, August 31. New Oxford Area Library has planned a sing-along movie marathon starting at 11 am that day. We will pop some popcorn and provide some other snacks. We encourage attendees to bring camping-style chairs for the most comfortable viewing experience. Come for one movie, come for all - just don’t expect the library to be a quiet place that day! Contact the library or visit adamslibrary.org for more information about events.
