For the third year, the Adams County Library System is hosting FunFest, a FREE event for the entire family to launch Summer Quest, that fabulous season of exploration and learning. FunFest occurs on Friday, June 8th from 4p – 7p at the Gettysburg Rec Park. It will feature face painting, balloon artists, the Super Sensational Storytime Show with Mr. George, hot dogs grilled by the Kiwanis Club Gettysburg Adams, ice cream by Antietam Dairy, treats from Mr. Y’s Shaved Ice, tunes from DJ John of Ziegler’s Mobile Entertainment, and booths of activities from 40 Adams County organizations. And of course, children, teens and adults can register for Summer Quest.

Want to be a FunFest volunteer? Choose between greeting attendees, helping with kids’ activities, set up/clean up, signage crew, vendor helper, and more. If you are interested, please contact me. To show our appreciation, you’ll receive an official FunFest baseball cap and supper. It will be fun!
Celebrate Dad with an Honor Book!
Looking for a way to show special appreciation for Dad or Gramps this Father’s Day? An Honor Book donation offers a lasting tribute to the man who helped you learn how to ride a bike, taught you how to drive, helped you build that cool tree fort or walked you down the aisle.
You can suggest the genre and subject area, and our staff will provide a “name plate” in each book with wording approved by you. Visit us in person at any of our convenient branches or make the request on line at www.AdamsLibrary.org. The ACLS accepts donations of $35 - $50 per book to expand our collection and we’ll send a special acknowledgment to the person you are honoring this Father’s Day. It’s a great way to say, “I love you,” and contribute to the lifelong learning of residents throughout Adams County. Thank you!
