Volunteering
It has been said that “In any volunteer organization, 10% of the members do 90% of the work”. The Friends do better than that. We have 142 willing, unpaid volunteers out of a current membership of 682 (21%). However, because of attrition we always need more. Friends Board. Elected for two year terms: President, Vice President, Recording Secretary, Treasurer, Corresponding Secretary, Historian. Appointed Chairs: Computer Systems, Book Sale, Book Store, Membership, Publicity, Recycling. Current needs: August 2008 Used Book Sale Bonanza leadership positions for a) one day set up, b) 3 ½ sales days, or c) ½ day clean-up.
Book Processing. Culling and sorting donated used books in the library garage from 1-3 pm on Thursdays.

Store.
Basic job is Sales Clerk. “Regulars” work one 3 ½
hour shift (9:30-1 or 1-4:30) per week or one shift per month, same
day and shift each time. "Subs" fill in the other
times as it fits their calendar. The Friends store is open Monday
through Saturday and afternoon on Sunday. It’s a great group.

Used Book Sale Bonanza. August 6th through 9th, 2008 (as well as pre-sale set up Tuesday, August 5). Basically a 4 hour shift either unpacking the cartons of books and putting up signs for setup, serving as cashiers or “straighteners” during sales days or repacking the leftover books on Saturday afternoon.
