After months of research into a variety of eBook lending programs for libraries, the Adams County Library System is pleased to announce that it has signed a contract with 3M Library Systems and is ready to launch the 3M Cloud Library.
3M’s innovative new system is composed digital content, along with apps for borrowing and reading, providing libraries with a simple, turnkey system for advancing their digital offerings. The service’s eBooks are compatible with PCs, Macs, iPads, Nooks and Android operating systems, enabling patrons to use their personal devices to browse, check out and read eBooks. Kindle books are currently not available with the 3M Cloud Library.
Users will find the link to the Cloud Library and information on how to download eBooks on the “Download E-Books” page under the E-Library link.
Downloaded books will circulate for three weeks, just like a regular item that patrons check-out of the library. Users will have the ability to check an item in early, if they finish it before the due date. Because of the size and newness of the collection, the library has limited the number of check-outs that a patron may have to five at a time and ten hold requests at a time. As the collection grows, the library will look at increasing the limits.
Patrons with questions about the library’s new eBook service are invited to attend an eBook Open House at the Gettysburg Library on Saturday, June 16th from 10:00-2:00.
