Gettysburg Library Parking Lot Closed 07/21-07/25

The Library learned on Friday that the work being done on High Street would close the library parking lot from Monday 07/21 through Friday 07/25.  The libraries two doors will be open and the library will still be accessible from the Middle Street Parking Lot.

The best library parking will be on Baltimore Street, South of Wade Ave. where meters are one hour for $.25.

All the libraries in the county will be open regular hours next week.  Check out East Berlin, Biglerville, Littlestown, New Oxford or Fairfield.

We truly apologize for this inconvenience.

2014 Adams County Reads One Book

And the 2014 Adams County Reads One Book Selection is…

Harold Fry is a shy, retired British brewery salesman.  He receives a letter from a former coworker whom he hasn’t had any contact with in 20 years, Queenie Hennessey.  This brief note sparks Harold to take an unplanned trek – to walk the 600 miles or so from his home in southern England to the hospice where Queenie is dying of cancer.  Without hiking boots, rain gear, map or cell phone, Harold begins his unlikely pilgrimage across the English countryside. Along the way, he meets strangers who stir up memories and flashbacks – of when his marriage was filled with promise and then not, his inadequacy as a father and shortcomings as a husband.
