eBook Maintenance

We have received notification from our eBook provider that the Cloud Library will be down for maintenance on Tuesday, December 18th.  Here is the information that we have at this time:

We are pushing another update to the 3M Cloud Library System as a part of our effort to continue to improve upon our overall system and to address certain issues. The implementation of this update will occur on Tuesday December 18th at 12:00AM CST and will cause our system to be down for 4- 8 hours. Due to the nature of this update we will have to shut down the system completely, which means patrons and libraries will not have access to any applications or programs on the 3M Cloud Library. This is due to the nature of this update and to ensure that everything is implemented correctly, we do apologize for this inconvenience.

We will let everyone know when the eBook service resumes.

Local Author at the East Berlin Community Library

The East Berlin Community Library is proud to present local Abbottstown author Jill Pritchett, author of the novel View From My Soul. Jill will be offering a reading of her novel on Thursday November, 29th at 6:30 pm inside the library. Jill is also an accomplished artist and will be bringing some of her artwork along as well.

Here is a review of her novel published on Amazon.com, “Sarah Seere, coal baron heiress, debuting psychic, mountain climber and equestrienne, has some monumental dilemmas to resolve: Two murders. A missing child. A threatening foe. A budding practice as a psychic. Sure she’s bewildered. And even her psychic powers seem uncertain. It’s a beautiful autumn day when Sarah rides her horse up Stony Mountain and discovers a crime scene. Another young girl, Katie Sackett, has been brutally murdered, her body dumped on the mountain. As Sarah approaches, Katie’s ghost makes an impassioned plea: Will Sarah find the man who killed her? Riding away, Sarah finds herself involved in an interview with the local TV station, WSTB. That evening, the news anchor wraps up the murder segment by stating that Sarah is using her psychic abilities to discover the identity of the killer. He’s beaten two girls to death. Now the news reveals that some busybody psychic is after him. There’s only one thing he can do about it, and he has to do it soon—find and kill the psychic.”

To save your seat for this event, please contact library staff by calling 717-259-9000 or emailing eblib@adamslibrary.org. We hope to see you there!

Thanksgiving Week

Scheduled Maintenance – eBooks

There will be scheduled outage impacting the 3M Cloud Library system Saturday, November 10th 2012 starting at 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm EST.

Why is this happening?
3M is implementing a major network upgrade to increase their network capacity, which in turn will make their network even more reliable and faster, in addition to enabling future expandability as they continue to grow. Due to the nature of this upgrade, it cannot be performed without an outage. During the times specified, you may experience sporadic or no access to the 3M Cloud Library system.

How does this affect you?
You will be able to read the books you currently have checked out but will not be able to browse, search or check out any new materials.
